Kaiser Optical Systems and METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem release iC Raman™ V2.0

ANN ARBOR, MI (December 3rd, 2007) Kaiser Optical Systems Inc. (Kaiser) and METTLER TOLEDO are pleased to announce the release of iC Raman™ V2.0 for select RamanRxn Systems™ and PhAT System analyzers.

Both companies are established leaders in regard to in situ analytical market segments and have a long track record of providing high quality innovative products and services to the Process Analytical community. iC Raman™ V2.0 is the second product resulting from Kaiser’s and METTLER TOLEDO’s collaborative agreement announced in 2006.

iC Raman™ 2.0 brings next-generation analyzer set up, data acquisition, and reaction analysis software to Kaiser’s Raman analyzers. Building on METTLER TOLEDO’s iC™ framework and incorporating Kaiser’s experience in Raman spectroscopy iC Raman™ 2.0 enjoys an expansion of the framework to include Raman-proven methods, pre-processing steps, and univariate analysis tools. This common software framework is shared with METTLER TOLEDO’s ReactIR™ (iC IR™), FBRM® (iC FBRM™), and automated lab reactor and calorimeter (iControl™) products.

“Many of our Raman users are also using METTLER TOLEDO products, such as Automatic Lab Reactors, in-situ FT-IR, and in situ particle size analyzers, to gain insight into their chemical development processes,” said Ian Lewis, marketing manager at Kaiser Optical Systems. “The requirement to run several different computer systems and software packages was limiting users’ productivity during the set-up, data analysis and data correlation steps of the process. We believe that this common software platform will lead to better and faster process understanding.”

“Customers of our Reaction Analysis (ReactIR™) and Particle System Characterization (Lasentec® FBRM® and PVM®) tools have been asking us to add Raman capabilities to our portfolio due to its complementary character to our tools,” commented Roel Ferwerda, general manager of the Real Time Analytics business for METTLER TOLEDO. “Kaiser Optical Systems is a leading provider of Raman, and we are excited to work with them to better serve our customers.”

NEW PRODUCT RELEASE
RamanRxn3™ PAT Analyzer: A new PAT Analyzer for the 21st Century

ANN ARBOR, MI In response to the FDA’s recently announced Process Analytical Technology (PAT) initiative and incorporating input from our existing 24/7 Process Analytical chemistry (PAC) customers, KOSI is pleased to introduce the new RamanRxn3 process Raman analyzer.  The RamanRxn3 is a self-calibrating, self-diagnosing, fiber-coupled Raman analyzer designed to meet the needs of the process analytics, chemical, and polymers markets as well as the PAT pharmaceutical market.

Versatility was a key goal when developing the feature set for the RamanRxn3. The analyzer is contained in a stainless steel enclosure rated for installation in classified locations.  The system can be mounted either permanently on a wall or on a trolley so it can be used in the laboratory for methods development or in the pilot plant for process understanding or in production for process monitoring and control.  Sampling versatility is accomplished by coupling the RamanRxn3 with either the MR Probe or the Pilot™ line of process probes for non-contact or direct insertion sampling.  A single RamanRxn3 analyzer may be configured to monitor multiple process locations.

The RamanRxn3 analyzer incorporates advanced self-calibration and self-diagnostics to ensure the validity of each analysis.  The analyzer’s precision allows both advanced chemometric analyses and traditional univariate methods to be used.

For application development, KOSI’s HoloGRAMS™ 4.1, HoloReact™, and HoloPro™ software packages are available as well as support for third-party chemometrics packages such as GRAMS/AI® and Matlab®.  Once data has been collected by the RamanRxn3 HoloPro can be used to communicate results to the plant DCS for control or logging purposes.
