Petrochemical Applications of In-Situ Gas-Phase Raman Spectroscopy
In recent years, the use of spectroscopic probes to perform in-situ process monitoring has grown in popularity. Aspects of this work are directed at gaining a fundamental understanding of a process, as well as toward process control and optimization. A variety of spectroscopic techniques are commonly used for in-situ monitoring, and in recent years, the use of Raman spectroscopy has grown in popularity. A key advantage of Raman spectroscopy is the applicability to a wide variety of chemical species and sample phases.
In this presentation, the application of gas-phase in-situ Raman spectroscopy will be discussed. The characteristics that make Raman spectroscopy desirable for this application will be presented, as well as the challenges that need to be overcome to make this application successful in research and manufacturing environments
