Part 2: Reaction Monitoring and Qualification

Raman spectroscopy in the pharmaceutical arena has proven to be invaluable in reaction monitoring. Using Raman spectroscopy as an in-situ analytical tool can provide rapid understanding of the chemical process as compared to traditional off-line analyses. Quantitative and even qualitative analyses can be valuable during process development when real-time data collection is critical to understanding the kinetics of reactions and can be used to understand the scale-up process leading to successful implementation in the manufacturing environment.

This presentation will focus on the application of Raman spectroscopy from the laboratory setting, through scale-up in manufacturing, and will cover solutions used to overcome challenges such as in-line sampling locations and method robustness faced during the scale-up process. In addition, the presentation will encompass the strategy used to qualify an in-situ method in order to ensure successful transfer and implementation of the method to large scale manufacturing. Specific performance characteristics of the Raman method will be discussed and how they impact transferability.
