Application of Raman Spectroscopy in Upstream and Downstream Biopharmaceutical Processes
The implementation of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Quality by Design (QbD) has steadily increased in importance. In the future it will be critical to show that these initiatives are correctly applied to the process so to ensure consistency and robustness in product yield and quality. As a technique, Raman spectroscopy will play a key role in applying these initiatives due to its online and non-invasive character, as well as the ability for Raman to simultaneously quantify several process parameters during biopharmaceutical production.
In this webinar, several applications of Raman technology in biopharmaceutical processes will be presented. The applications will range from different upstream processes, to first downstream applications, to monitoring classical process parameters as well as quality related attributes. Moreover, a new flow cell will be introduced, which enables the use of the technology in chromatography and small volume samples. Insights of modelling procedures including a concept to fuse mechanistic knowledge with online sensor information will be shared. Finally, the importance of Raman spectroscopy for continuous and integrated upstream and downstream bioprocesses will be discussed.
